Stablecoin-Enabled IPO Connects Blockchain with African Capital Markets
Solana is expanding its role in real-world financial markets as investors can now use stablecoins to subscribe to Africa's largest initial public offering, linking blockchain-based payments with Nigeria's conventional equity market.
The offering involves Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, which opened its IPO on Sept. 14. The company is offering 4.1 billion shares at 525 naira each, targeting about $1.6 billion in proceeds.
NectarFi, a Nigerian financial platform built on Solana, has enabled investors holding stablecoins to participate through infrastructure provided by GetEquity. The minimum subscription through NectarFi is 10,000 naira, or about $7.50.
