Stablecoin Growth Surges as EU Eyes Expanded Regulations
Regulatory developments are driving growth in the stablecoin ecosystem. The EURC Stablecoin recently reached its highest activity level in four years, with 1,760 daily active addresses and 713 new digital wallets created per day. This milestone comes just days after a major regulatory deadline.
The European Commission is now seeking feedback from industry stakeholders on expanding MiCA regulations to include tokenization and global stablecoins. By September 30, 2026, the Commission will receive input from technological and institutional experts. Currently, 244 companies have obtained formal authorization under these new regulations.
Stablecoin adoption has also surged in global transactions, with Binance reporting a $76 billion weekend flow of these assets. The decentralized network BNB has seen a significant increase in payment volume, reaching a 114% year-over-year growth on Binance Pay.
