Stablecoin Market Contracts by $7.7 Billion Amid Record Transaction Activity
The stablecoin market contracted in June 2026, with a total market capitalization of approximately $312 billion. The contraction was due to a decline in circulating supply, rather than a collapse in token prices.
Despite the decline in market capitalization, transaction activity reached a record high in June, with $1.79 trillion in adjusted transactions. USDC processed about $1.21 trillion, while USDT handled roughly $576 billion.
The contraction was modest compared to the Terra-Luna collapse in May 2022, which saw a loss of one-fifth of the value of leading stablecoins. The current decline is attributed to lower circulating supply rather than a major market-wide depeg.
