Stablecoin Market Hits New Heights Amid Fee Abstraction
The stablecoin market continues to grow rapidly, with adjusted volumes and transactions reaching new heights. According to Visa's onchain analytics, US$ 1.3 trillion in adjusted volume and 230.3 million adjusted transactions were recorded in the 30 days leading up to August 27.
This growth is largely driven by the use of stablecoins like USDC, which can be sent and received without displaying a balance in their native assets, such as ETH or SOL. This is made possible through fee abstraction, where an intermediary covers the execution costs.
However, despite this abstraction, the need to hold native assets remains, albeit concentrated in applications, providers, and operators that manage balances, billing, and operational risk.
