Stablecoin Market Surpasses $310B, Could Fuel Q4 Bitcoin Momentum
The stablecoin market has reached a new milestone, surpassing $310 billion in value. This growth is a promising sign for the overall crypto market, which is also on the rise. In fact, the stablecoin market has added over $1 billion in liquidity in just three days, setting a bullish tone for October.
Two of the largest stablecoin players, Tether and Circle, are taking steps to increase their presence in the market. Tether is reintroducing USDT to the Bitcoin network through its partnership with Utexo, which could lead to increased stablecoin liquidity entering the Bitcoin ecosystem. Meanwhile, Circle is launching cirBTC, a 1:1 wrapped BTC token that will enable institutions to use BTC in lending, borrowing, and settlement without having to unwind their underlying Bitcoin exposure.
These developments are likely to boost liquidity in the DeFi sector and could have a positive impact on Bitcoin's Q4 momentum. If stablecoin supply continues to grow in tandem with liquidity, it could create a perfect storm for deeper DeFi flows and a subsequent increase in Bitcoin's value.
The trend of stablecoin growth is also reflected in the numbers. According to a report by the RWA Foundation, USDC gained $881 million in liquidity over 90 days, while RLUSD added $765.3 million and USD gained $474.2 million. This growth is a testament to Circle's expanding liquidity footprint, making the upcoming cirBTC launch even more intriguing.
