Stablecoins Cushion Crypto Economy's Shallow Decline
The crypto economy experienced a relatively small decline of just 1.6% in the year ending June 2026, despite a significant market-cap drop of 50%. According to Chainalysis, this fall was from $9.4 trillion to $9.2 trillion.
This reduction is notable, especially considering the large downturn in the global cryptocurrency market. However, stablecoins played a crucial role in mitigating the impact of this decline. The report found that stablecoin cross-border flows surged by 77.5% during this period.
