Staking Showdown: Ethereum, Polkadot, Sui, Aptos, and Cosmos Vie for Top Spot
The world of cryptocurrency staking is constantly evolving, and October 2026 is no exception. With changes to token issuance and reward rates across various networks, choosing the best coin to stake can be a complex task.
According to Coin Gabbar, Ethereum stands out as one of the most predictable staking networks, with reported base staking APR ranging from 2.8% to 3.5%. The network's largest stakers are now allowed to hold up to 2,048 ETH after the Pectra upgrade.
Polkadot, on the other hand, underwent significant changes in March and July 2026, affecting its token issuance and slashing rules. Validators now need 10,000 DOT of their own at stake, and nominators are no longer subject to slashing.
Aptos has halved its staking reward rate from 5.19% to 2.6%, while Sui offers flexibility with no lock-up period for unstaking. Cosmos boasts the highest headline rate but comes with a 21-day unbonding period and inflation that can dilute rewards.
