Stalled CLARITY Act Vote Deepens US Regulatory Uncertainty
Regulatory uncertainty in the US digital asset market has left industry executives in Asia wondering what will happen next. The stalled vote on the CLARITY Act in the US Senate means that important questions about market structure and regulatory jurisdiction remain unresolved.
Samson Leo, Co-founder and Chief Legal Officer of StraitsX, believes that the immediate effect should be viewed narrowly because US stablecoin policy has already advanced under separate legislation. 'This outcome leaves important questions around US digital-asset market structure and regulatory jurisdiction unresolved,' he said.
Meanwhile, Singapore's recent consultation on foreign-regulated stablecoins and multi-jurisdictional issuance points to the larger challenge ahead: developing compatible frameworks for cross-border financial infrastructure.
