Stand With Crypto Backs Candidates Ahead of 2026 Midterms Amid CLARITY Act Roadblocks

Stand With Crypto, a group launched by Coinbase in 2023 to promote clear regulations for the crypto industry, has endorsed candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The endorsements include Republican Jon Husted of Ohio, Republican Ashley Hinson of Iowa, and Democrat Chris Pappas of New Hampshire for Senate seats. In the House, the group backed Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Iowa and Democrat Shomari Figures of Alabama.

These endorsements follow the failure of the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act to advance in the Republican-controlled Senate on September 15. The bill passed the House with bipartisan support in 2025 but did not receive enough votes for a procedural motion in the Senate.

Crypto-focused political spending has also increased ahead of the election, with Fairshake, a political action committee backed by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, pledging an initial $30 million to support Husted against Democrat Sherrod Brown. As of June, Fairshake spent $82 million on candidates across the country.
