Stand With Crypto’s Four Million Advocates Fail to Secure Bipartisan Support for CLARITY Act
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced that Stand With Crypto's four million registered advocates had surpassed their target, set in October 2024 for the 2026 midterm elections. Despite this milestone, the CLARITY Act failed to advance through the Senate on September 15, with a cloture vote falling short of the 60-vote threshold.
The bill aimed to regulate crypto assets and was supported by Stand With Crypto's advocates. However, it faced opposition from Democrats who raised concerns about ethics, anti-money-laundering safeguards, national security, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's capacity. Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine also expressed concerns that stablecoin rewards would pull deposits from community banks and credit unions.
The organization has been actively engaging with lawmakers through various means, including over 925,000 emails sent to Congress in 2025, alongside 600 events and 100 meetings with lawmakers. By August 2026, the group reported that CLARITY had generated more than one million calls and emails.
