Standard Chartered Brings Institutional Bitcoin Trading to UAE
Standard Chartered has launched bitcoin spot trading for institutional clients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking a significant milestone in the country's digital assets market.
The bank, which has a long history of innovation in the crypto space, introduced digital asset custody services in the UAE in 2024 and set up a trading desk for Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies in London in 2025.
Rola Abu Manneh, CEO of Standard Chartered in the UAE, Middle East, and Pakistan, said that the UAE's regulatory framework supports institutional participation and innovation.
With this new service, eligible clients will be able to use the bank's execution capabilities, secure custody, governance, and connectivity to participate in digital asset markets.
