Standard Chartered Bank is expanding its digital asset services with a new custody offering in Singapore. The bank plans to provide secure, regulated custody for select cryptoassets, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world assets to institutional and accredited investor corporate clients, subject to regulatory approval.
This move aligns with the bank's ongoing investment in digital asset capabilities, driven by growing demand from institutional and corporate clients. Singapore's role as a leading financial and innovation hub makes it a key part of Standard Chartered's global strategy, complementing its existing presence in markets like the UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong.
The new custody service will integrate with the bank's broader Financing & Securities Services capabilities, supporting institutional clients across asset lifecycles, from traditional asset servicing to tokenization and digital asset custody. Patrick Lee, CEO of Standard Chartered Singapore, emphasized the importance of robust infrastructure for secure movement and safekeeping of tokenized assets.
Ole Matthiessen, Global Head of Transaction Services & Digital Assets at Standard Chartered, highlighted the critical role of secure and regulated custody in the digital asset ecosystem. The bank plans to continue expanding its digital asset capabilities across key financial centers to meet growing client demand.
