Standard Chartered Expands Institutional Crypto Trading in UAE
Standard Chartered has launched institutional Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) spot trading in the United Arab Emirates through its Standard Chartered DIFC platform.
The move marks a significant expansion of the bank's digital asset offerings, which now include custody solutions as well as execution capabilities.
According to the bank, this is the first time a Global Systemically Important Bank (G-SIB) has offered institutional digital asset spot trading in the region.
Rola Abu Manneh, chief executive for the UAE, Middle East and Pakistan at Standard Chartered, stated that the UAE's digital assets framework supports institutional participation.
Standard Chartered DIFC is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, positioning it as a key player in the region's financial innovation landscape.
