Steak 'n Shake Boasts 13.8% Sales Growth After Embracing Bitcoin
Steak 'n Shake, a burger chain founded in 1934, has seen a significant boost in sales after embracing Bitcoin as a form of payment. Since May 2025, the company has accepted Bitcoin and routes payments into its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. As a result, it achieved a 13.8% same-store sales growth in Q2 2026.
The company also pays hourly employees a Bitcoin bonus of 21 cents per hour worked, which has helped reduce costs and strengthen sales. This strategy has also supported reinvestment in food quality.
Steak 'n Shake now brands itself as a 'Bitcoin company' and plans to expand into Latin America, starting with El Salvador due to its Bitcoin-friendly stance.
