Stellar Flips Bitcoin Cash in Market Cap Rankings Amid 13% Price Surge
Stellar's (XLM) price surge has propelled it past Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in market capitalization rankings. This move comes after XLM rose over 13% in the last 24 hours, building on a week-long rally that followed a major golden cross on its daily chart.
The golden cross occurred over the weekend, and since then, Stellar's price has been steadily increasing. On September 16, the price was at $0.172, but it has now surpassed Bitcoin Cash in market capitalization rankings.
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) saw a strong surge earlier in the week due to CME Group's announcement that it will launch Bitcoin Cash futures on October 19, pending regulatory review. However, the price of BCH has since retreated, and at the time of writing, it was down 4.53% in the last 24 hours.
The Adapter (Protocol 28) upgrade on Mainnet launched on September 16 brought improvements including faster consensus, even under load; atomic upgrades for fleets of contracts; and a safer, standard way to migrate contract data. This upgrade has contributed to Stellar's performance gains, allowing ledgers to close in about 5 seconds, down from about 5.7 seconds.
