Stellar Surges Past XRP as 50-Week Barrier Falls
The Stellar token (XLM) has surpassed its long-time rival XRP in terms of price performance, breaking above the key 50-week moving average barrier. According to data from TradingView, XLM's price rise is being driven by net buying momentum, while XRP's advance is being held back by heavy technical resistance.
The 50-week moving average has been a critical dividing line for both assets this week, with XLM establishing itself around $0.2123-$0.2151 and XRP struggling to overcome the same level at $1.55-$1.5730. The market capitalization gap between the two assets is significant, with XRP holding fifth place in the global ranking at $97.62 billion and XLM sitting 16th at $7.41 billion.
On-chain data suggests that Stellar's processing of stablecoin volume is driving retail demand for XLM, creating a constant flow of buying pressure. In contrast, the XRP Ledger appears to be centralized, with just 264 wallets holding $456.64 million and the bulk of the supply locked in custodial storage.
