Stellar's 'Adapter' Upgrade Live as Network Hits 211 TPS
Stellar Protocol 28, also known as 'Adapter,' has gone live on the Stellar mainnet following a validator vote in September. This upgrade brings several changes to Soroban smart contract management, data migrations, and the network's consensus process.
The key addition is CAP-85, which allows groups of smart contracts to be upgraded atomically. This makes maintenance and security updates simpler for financial applications that manage many contracts.
Another significant change is CAP-86, which introduces new 'sparse' functions for data migrations. These functions enable contracts to handle missing or additional fields when a data structure changes, making migrations more gradual and reducing the risk of interruptions or incompatibilities.
The network has also seen growth in tokenized real-world assets and stablecoins. Tokenized assets on Stellar have reached approximately $3.3 billion, with stablecoin supply nearing $884 million.
