Stellar's RWA Market Soars to $3B, but DeFi Adoption Lags
Stellar's tokenized real-world asset (RWA) market has seen significant growth in recent months, increasing from $785 million in January to over $3 billion in July. This expansion is largely driven by tokenized money market funds, U.S. Treasury products, and corporate credit.
Four major products account for hundreds of millions of dollars each on the network: Spiko's Overnight Swap Fund, Ondo Finance's USDY, VuMe Bond 2030, and Franklin Templeton's BENJI token.
Despite this growth, the use of RWAs in Stellar's decentralized finance (DeFi) remains limited. According to RedStone, only slightly more than $2 million is currently being used as collateral in Blend's RWA-enabled pools.
RedStone's report highlights the importance of reliable pricing in facilitating the use of RWAs in DeFi. The company notes that a tokenized security does not automatically become usable in DeFi simply because it exists on a blockchain.
