President Donald Trump has announced that Stephen Miller will take over as White House Chief of Staff starting Monday, marking a significant shift in his administration following the midterm elections. The change comes after Republicans lost control of both chambers of Congress on Tuesday. Susie Wiles, the current Chief of Staff and a longtime political operative for Trump, will be reassigned to lead “the Trump Political Operation.” Trump expressed gratitude for Wiles’ service, stating, “She has done a great job!”

Wiles, 69, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and underwent six months of chemotherapy while continuing her duties. In September, she announced she was cancer-free. In a statement posted on X, Wiles called her time in the White House “an honor of a lifetime” and reaffirmed her commitment to Trump and his mission.

Miller, who has served as Deputy Chief of Staff in Trump’s second term, is known for his role in shaping the administration’s immigration agenda, including mass deportations and closing the US-Mexico border. He has also overseen homeland security policies alongside border czar Tom Homan. Previously, Miller served as a senior advisor and director of speechwriting during Trump’s first term, where he co-authored the Muslim ban and advocated for ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
