Stock-Linked Memecoins: A New Market Structure Emerge with Robinhood Chain
HTX Research has released a report on stock-linked memecoins, a new asset category that combines public-equity price discovery, crypto attention, and AMM inventory into a single market structure.
The report finds that these memecoins are paired with stock tokens representing companies such as NVDA, TSLA, HIMS, and MU, using them as quote assets or liquidity bases.
The researchers note that high fees do not necessarily imply high net returns, citing risks including out-of-range positions, impermanent loss, and stock-token premiums or discounts.
The report also debunks the notion of 100,000% APY for supplying Uniswap v4 liquidity to these memecoins, highlighting issues with short observation windows and denominator effects.
To determine whether these assets will become a durable market structure, HTX Research identifies four conditions that must be met: Robinhood's native users must move onchain, stock-token redemption and pricing must remain stable during extreme moves, issuance platforms must produce markets with two-sided depth after seven and thirty days, and AMMs must preserve effective depth and organic volume as subsidies fall.
