Strategy boosts Bitcoin holdings to 848,000 BTC with $29 million purchase
Strategy, a leading digital asset management firm, has increased its Bitcoin holdings by 334 BTC, bringing its total to 848,000 BTC worth approximately $73 billion. The company made this acquisition over four days ending on October 4, spending around $29 million. The purchase was funded using $16 million from net proceeds of MSTR stock sales and $13 million in USD cash.
This latest Bitcoin buy follows a previous accumulation of 1,665 BTC at the end of September. In addition to its Bitcoin purchases, Strategy repurchased 740,634 shares of its common stock (STRC) for nearly $74 million during the same period. Earlier in September, the firm had repurchased 1.03 million STRC shares for about $103 million.
The company also disclosed that it spent over $142 million from its USD Reserve on preferred-stock dividends and interest, leaving $4.9 billion in the reserve and $833 million in USD cash as of October 4. Strategy reported no sales of its preferred shares during this period.
For the third quarter, Strategy estimated a digital-asset gain of $20.9 billion, alongside nearly $1.9 billion in deferred tax expense.
