Strategy boosts bitcoin holdings to 848000 BTC with latest purchase
Strategy has added 334 bitcoin to its holdings, bringing its total to 848,000 BTC as of October 4, 2026. The company acquired the new bitcoin for an average price of $85,838.8 per coin, spending a total of $28.7 million. These purchases were funded through the sale of 92,894 shares of Class A common stock, which generated $15.7 million in net proceeds.
In addition to its bitcoin purchases, Strategy also engaged in share repurchases. Between September 28 and October 4, 2026, the company bought back a total of 1,773,802 shares of STRC Stock for $176.3 million. As of October 4, 2026, $547.2 million remained available under the company’s digital credit securities repurchase program, and $1.0 billion under its MSTR Stock repurchase program.
Financially, Strategy reported a USD Reserve of $4.88 billion and a USD Cash balance of $833.4 million as of October 4, 2026. For the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, the company estimated a $20.91 billion gain on digital assets and a $1.88 billion associated deferred tax expense. The digital asset carrying value was estimated at $70.82 billion, with a net deferred tax liability of $1.88 billion related to its bitcoin holdings.
A $4.12 billion deferred tax asset recorded as of June 30, 2026, was reversed following bitcoin’s fair value exceeding its cost basis by September 30, 2026. The company also disclosed that it had $18.83 billion in MSTR Stock remaining available for issuance and sale under its ATM program.
