Strategy Boosts Bitcoin Holdings to 848000 with $287 Million Purchase
Strategy recently expanded its Bitcoin holdings, acquiring 334 BTC between October 1 and October 4, 2026. The purchase, totaling $28.7 million, was funded through the sale of 92,894 shares of Class A common stock (MSTR Stock), which generated $15.7 million in proceeds. This latest acquisition brings Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings to 848,000 BTC, with an average purchase price of $75,440.7 per BTC and a total cost basis of approximately $63.97 billion.
The company also provided updates on its stock repurchase programs. Between September 28 and October 4, 2026, Strategy repurchased 1,773,802 shares of STRC Stock for $176.3 million. As of October 4, 2026, $547.2 million remained available under the digital credit securities repurchase program, and $1.0 billion under the MSTR Stock repurchase program.
Strategy's financial estimates for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, included a $20.91 billion gain on digital assets and $1.88 billion in associated deferred tax expense. The company's digital asset carrying value was estimated at $70.82 billion, with a net deferred tax liability of $1.88 billion related to its Bitcoin holdings. Additionally, a $4.12 billion deferred tax asset recorded as of June 30, 2026, was reversed following Bitcoin’s fair value exceeding its cost basis by September 30, 2026.
As of October 4, 2026, Strategy's USD Reserve stood at $4.88 billion, and its USD Cash balance was $833.4 million. The company also had $18.83 billion in MSTR Stock remaining available for issuance and sale under its ATM program.
