Strategy Buys $370 Million Worth of Bitcoin in Latest Acquisition
Strategy, a publicly traded company led by Michael Saylor, has made another significant Bitcoin purchase. Between August 24 and August 30, the company acquired 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin.
This transaction marks a change from Strategy's recent activity, which focused on building dollar liquidity and repurchasing preferred stock rather than accumulating Bitcoin. The company had sold a significant portion of its holdings earlier in the summer to raise capital for various purposes.
The purchase price of $80,318 per coin may seem high compared to previous sales prices, but it's consistent with Strategy's long-term thesis that Bitcoin will appreciate over time. The company has not abandoned its primary treasury reserve asset and is now managing its capital structure more flexibly, taking into account market conditions.
Strategy's total holdings now stand at 845,050 BTC, acquired for an aggregate cost of approximately $63.73 billion at an overall average price of $75,412 per BTC.
