Strategy Buys More Bitcoin Amid Criticism, Defying September Market Trend
Michael Saylor's Strategy is back in the market for Bitcoin, despite recent criticism of its accumulation strategy. On September 20, Saylor posted a historical chart of Strategy's BTC purchases on X, accompanied by the phrase 'A little more orange.' This cryptic message suggests that Strategy plans to add even more Bitcoin to its massive reserve, which now totals approximately 845,050 BTC.
Strategy's recent purchase of 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million at an average price of $80,318 per Bitcoin has brought its total holdings up to a significant portion of the global supply. With this latest acquisition, Strategy now controls around 4.02% of the total Bitcoin supply, which is capped at 21 million coins.
Strategy's 'buy the dip' strategy appears to be working against September's traditional seasonal weakness in the market. While recent analysis from AMBCrypto noted that Bitcoin's September downturn was particularly pronounced from 2017 to 2022, this pattern has weakened over the years, with positive returns posted in 2023, 2024, and 2025 respectively.
