Strategy, the largest institutional holder of Bitcoin (BTCUSD), has halted its Bitcoin buying for three consecutive weeks. The company has purchased over 800,000 BTC worth more than $50 billion since 2016 and raised equity and debt capital to fund these purchases.

In a recent move, Strategy sold 5.42 million shares of its Class A common stock, raising $544.5 million in net proceeds and increasing its USD reserve to $3.75 billion. The company has also repurchased 288,930 shares of its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) for about $25 million.

CEO Phong Le explained the STRC repurchases: 'At prices below $100 per share, STRC repurchases represent an attractive allocation of capital because they can reduce future preferred dividend requirements at a discount.'

The company's pause in Bitcoin buying has led some analysts to speculate that the recent crypto downturn is affecting Strategy's usual playbook. While MSTR shares rose on the news, investors may ask harder questions if Bitcoin buying stays frozen.
