Strategy Halts Bitcoin Purchases Amid Cash Pressure, Mistrusts Market
Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has gone four weeks without buying more BTC. This is the longest stretch that Strategy has not purchased any BTC in almost two years.
The company's Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted a graph of Bitcoin purchases on X, stating 'We're gonna need another color.' However, instead of making another purchase, Strategy decided to sell a large quantity of BTC.
Strategy holds 843,775 BTC purchased at an average cost of $75,476 per Bitcoin and a total investment amounting to $63.69 billion. The current market value of $65,373.96 per BTC makes the investment worth around $55.1 billion, placing it $8.6 billion short of its total purchase.
Instead of buying more Bitcoin, Strategy has chosen to improve its cash balance by disposing of over 2.73 million MSTR shares, fetching the firm about $263.5 million in net proceeds.
