Strategy Posts Record $8.22B Q2 Unrealized Loss Amid Ongoing Market Volatility
Strategy's Q2 earnings report revealed an $8.22 billion unrealized net loss due to Bitcoin trading below its average cost basis of $75,476. This exceeded Wall Street projections by a significant margin.
The company attributed the loss to economic downturns and geopolitical conflicts that affected global markets. Strategy also reported lower product support revenues during this period.
Despite the unfavorable disclosure, Strategy expanded its Bitcoin holdings by 11% quarter-on-quarter, bringing its total holdings to 843,775 BTC worth $54.64 billion at current market prices.
The company maintained its position as the leader among publicly traded Bitcoin treasuries and reported a year-to-date BTC yield of 4.5%. Its gross BTC per share (BPS) value increased by 5% from the previous quarter, reaching $131.97.
