Strategy Slammed by Bitcoin Downturn, Reports Multi-Billion Dollar Loss
Strategy Inc., a prominent player in the crypto space, has reported an $8.220 billion loss for the second quarter of 2026. This significant decline is attributed to an accounting adjustment due to Bitcoin's recent downturn.
In a conference call with investors, Strategy's CEO emphasized that this loss was largely driven by changes in the market value of their holdings, particularly Bitcoin. The company's financial guidance has also been adjusted, projecting results between a $5.5 billion loss and a $6.3 billion profit.
Despite this setback, Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, remains optimistic about Bitcoin's long-term prospects. However, he warned that the cryptocurrency's greatest threat comes from within its own ranks, specifically citing the contentious BIP-110 proposal as a potential risk factor.
