Strategy Stock Climbs 2% After Latest Bitcoin Purchase
Strategy Inc. (MSTR) saw its stock rise nearly 2% to around $163 on Monday after the company announced another significant Bitcoin purchase. Between October 1 and October 4, 2026, Strategy acquired 334 BTC for approximately $28.7 million, at an average price of $85,838.80 per coin. This purchase was funded by selling $15.7 million worth of MSTR stock and $13 million from cash reserves.
The latest acquisition brings Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 848,000 BTC, valued at roughly $73 billion at current prices. The company’s average purchase price per coin stands at $75,440.70, with a total investment of just under $64 billion. Additionally, Strategy repurchased 1.77 million shares of its STRC preferred stock last week for about $176.3 million, using a combination of cash reserves and interest earnings.
Despite the recent gains, MSTR has had a challenging year, with a 48% decline over the past twelve months. However, the stock has rebounded nearly 30% in the past month, aligning with Bitcoin’s recovery. Strategy reported a $21 billion gain on its digital assets in the third quarter of 2026, underscoring the direct correlation between Bitcoin’s price swings and MSTR’s performance.
Michael Saylor, Strategy’s CEO, highlighted the company’s growing Bitcoin holdings on social media, posting a chart with the caption “More orange than ever.” Strategy’s Bitcoin stash now represents over 4% of the total 21 million coin supply cap, far surpassing other corporate holders like Metaplanet and Twenty One.
