Strategy Suffers $8.22 Billion Net Loss Amid Declining Bitcoin Prices
Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has released its Q2 financial report. The company posted a net loss of $8.22 billion, a significant reversal from last year's net profit of $10.02 billion. This downturn is largely attributed to the $83.2 billion unrealized loss resulting from the more than 40% decline in Bitcoin prices compared to the previous year.
The company reported revenue of $1.224 billion for Q2, a 6.9% increase year-over-year, with a gross margin of 66.6%. As of July 26, Strategy's Bitcoin holdings stood at 843,775 units, an 11% increase from the previous quarter and a 29,997 unit gain since the beginning of the year.
The company's average cost per Bitcoin is approximately $75,476. The total market value of its Bitcoin holdings is around $57.7 billion. Strategy also announced plans to reduce its convertible debt by 18% to $6.7 billion and increase its dollar reserve by 12% to $2.4 billion.
CEO Phong Le stated that if the company's stock price falls below $100, it will continue to 'buy back shares with discipline.' Strategy has paid dividends for 18 consecutive months without defaulting on any obligations.
