Strategy Suffers $8.22B Quarterly Loss Due to Bitcoin Price Drop
Michael Saylor's Strategy has reported an $8.22 billion net loss for the second quarter of 2026 due to Bitcoin's price decline. The company holds 843,775 BTC, acquired at an average purchase price of around $75,476 per coin by late July. This unrealized loss is a significant portion of the firm's quarterly losses.
The Strategy has expanded its cash reserves, accumulating $3.75 billion to cover over two years' worth of dividend and interest payments. Despite market challenges, the company's revenue increased 6.9% year-over-year to $122.4 million, with a gross profit of $81.6 million and a 66.6% gross margin.
Saylor stated that in spite of muted Bitcoin sentiment and market skepticism, his firm is evolving its business model and establishing Digital Credit as a new asset class. His plan aims to return STRC to health through stable demand, high liquidity, and low volatility trading near par, ultimately creating shareholder value over the long term.
