Strategy Suffers Massive Loss as Bitcoin Price Slumps
Strategy, the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, suffered an $8.2 billion net loss in the second quarter due to a sharp decline in the cryptocurrency's price.
The company held 843,775 BTC as of July 26, but its value at current market prices stands at around $54.8 billion, significantly below its total purchase cost of $63.7 billion.
To address this issue, Strategy is reshaping its capital structure through various measures, including at-the-market stock sales, convertible note repurchases, a Bitcoin monetization program, and common and preferred share buyback programs.
