Strategy to Resume Bitcoin Buying Amid Ongoing Sales Strategy
Strategy's CEO Phong Le announced that the firm will resume buying Bitcoin later this year. Despite recent sales, which totaled around $108.6 million from 1,690 BTC sold at an average price of $64,262, Strategy has still accumulated roughly 175,000 BTC since January while selling only about 7,000 BTC.
This buying pace is significantly higher than the company's selling rate, with Le stating it runs around 25 times higher. Strategy currently holds 840,447 BTC acquired for a total cost of $63.36 billion at an average purchase price of $75,385 per coin.
The sales have raised eyebrows due to their departure from the company's long-standing 'never sell' posture under chairman Michael Saylor. However, Le maintained that these transactions were part of short-term balance-sheet management, with proceeds used for preferred stock dividends and buybacks of STRC shares.
