Strategy to Resume Bitcoin Buying Later This Year Despite Recent Sales
Strategy CEO Phong Le says his company will resume buying Bitcoin later this year. This announcement comes after Strategy sold four times since May, including a recent sale of 1,690 BTC at an average price of $64,262 for roughly $108.6 million in mid-August.
The company has purchased approximately 175,000 BTC in 2026 while selling only about 7,000 BTC, resulting in a buying pace that is about 25 times higher than its selling rate. This contradicts the idea that Strategy's recent sales mark a retreat from its accumulation strategy.
Strategy's USD reserve hit a record $4.65 billion in August 2026, growing over fivefold in just ten weeks. The buildup has been funded through a mix of equity issuance and Bitcoin sales. Le emphasized that the sales were not a loss of conviction but rather short-term balance-sheet management.
The company's mNAV (multiple of net asset value) has fallen to roughly 0.68x, meaning the market is pricing Strategy below the value of its own Bitcoin holdings. This has led some traders to watch whether Strategy's mNAV recovers as buying resumes.
