Strategy Unloads $108.6M in BTC Amid Shift to Fiat Collateral
Strategy, a company that holds significant amounts of Bitcoin, has sold 1,690 BTC for approximately $108.6 million at an average sale price of $64,262 between August 3 and August 9.
This is the second major sale by the company in recent months, following a June sale of 10,000 BTC for around $65 million. Strategy's Bitcoin holdings now total 840,447 units, acquired at a cost of approximately $63.36 billion.
Financial commentator Peter Schiff has interpreted this move as an indication that Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, has abandoned the idea of 'digital credit', where companies use cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin as collateral for loans.
Schiff noted that lenders are increasingly losing confidence in using BTC as collateral, and instead prefer traditional fiat money. He advised investors to sell MSTR stock and Bitcoin due to this shift in strategy.
