Strategy Unloads 3,328 Bitcoin Holdings Amid Balance-Sheet Support
Strategy, a company with one of the largest corporate Bitcoin treasuries, has been selling its BTC holdings in recent weeks. In late August, it disclosed that it had sold 1,690 BTC for approximately $109 million after unloading another 1,638 BTC the week before, both sales executed near $64,000 per coin.
The average purchase price of its holdings is around $75,000, meaning Strategy is taking a significant loss. The proceeds from these sales are being used to support another part of its capital structure by repurchasing STRC, one of the company's preferred-stock products.
Strategy has been stockpiling cash as well, with its US dollar reserve climbing to $4.65 billion after bolstered by roughly $650 million from $653 million in new MSTR share sales last week.
The company has stated that it intends to resume accumulation of BTC but for now, new capital is going toward cash and balance-sheet support rather than more Bitcoin.
