Strategy Unloads Another Large Batch of Bitcoin Amid Ongoing Sales
Strategy, a company known for its Bitcoin holdings, has completed its third disclosed Bitcoin sale of 2026. Between July 27 and August 2, it sold 1,638 BTC for $104.7 million at an average price of $63,957 per coin.
This brings Strategy's total sales to 5,258 BTC for approximately $323.2 million this year alone. The company has reduced its holdings to 842,138 BTC, but still remains a net Bitcoin buyer after acquiring more during the first half.
The sale proceeds were allocated towards preferred-stock dividends and repurchases of STRC, Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock. Strategy repurchased 912,143 STRC shares for $81.2 million using most of the Bitcoin proceeds, while $28.9 million came from newly issued MSTR common shares.
Michael Saylor responded to criticism by separating his personal holdings from Strategy's obligations as a publicly traded company. He stated that he had never sold any of his personal Bitcoin and emphasized that Strategy has disclosed since 2020 that it may buy or sell BTC as part of its capital management.
