Strategy's $297M BTC Transfer Sparks Confusion: Analysts Explain
Strategy's recent transfer of 3,568 BTC, valued at approximately $297 million, has sparked confusion in the market. The transfers were initially thought to be a sale of Bitcoin, but according to Arkham Intelligence analyst Emmett Gallic, they were simply regular Fidelity Custody operations.
The transfers were made from wallets linked to Strategy, one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin, and ranged from 138 BTC to 452 BTC in value. However, Gallic noted that these movements are 'normal' within Fidelity Custody, as the company treats customer deposits as fungible and moves funds as needed.
Strategy's recent activities have contributed to the confusion, particularly their Bitcoin Monetization Program launched on June 29. This program allows Strategy to sell Bitcoin in cycles for USD reserves, with a potential value of up to $1.25 billion. However, Arkham did not detect any sales in the recent transactions.
