Streamflow Cuts Tons of Tokens in Major Blockchain Move
The Streamflow Foundation made a significant move in the blockchain space by burning nearly 70% of its total STREAM token supply. On September 23, the foundation executed a single onchain transaction that destroyed 699.99 million STREAM tokens, reducing the total supply from approximately 1 billion to 300 million.
This drastic change is not expected to affect the operations of Streamflow's product, which provides token-management infrastructure for vesting, staking, locks, airdrops, and distributions on Solana. Existing user vesting schedules remain unchanged, and the foundation assures that its services will continue operating as before.
The burn has substantial implications for the STREAM token supply dynamics, but it is essential to note that this change does not create demand in itself. The long-term value of STREAM still depends on various factors, including the usage of the underlying platform, revenue flows through the ecosystem, and holder participation in staking or governance.
