Stripe-Backed Open Standard Launches OUSD Stablecoin for Business
Open Standard, a subsidiary of Stripe, has launched Open USD (OUSD), a stablecoin designed for businesses and developers building financial services and products in the U.S. payments and digital-asset markets.
OUSD is available through Mastercard, Stripe, and Visa stablecoin platforms, allowing businesses to access it freely with no minting or redemption fees at a 1:1 ratio.
The reserves backing OUSD are held by BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY Mellon, with monthly reserve attestations planned for transparency. This will give users regular updates on the assets supporting the token.
OUSD natively supports Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo blockchains and is initially available on Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap. Support from Coinbase is scheduled to begin on October 1st.
