Stripe Bolsters Crypto Onramp with Samsung Pay, Amid Apple Stablecoin Rumors

Stripe has added Samsung Pay to its crypto onramp for Android in stripe-react-native v0.75.0, expanding payment options for React Native Android apps and reducing checkout friction.

The update includes Samsung Pay setup, availability checks, and payment method collection for React Native Android apps, joining cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH as payment options.

This move targets the pain point of paying for crypto purchases inside an app, which is often flagged by banks as high-risk and declined. Mobile wallets like Samsung Pay use tokenized card details and biometrics, providing stronger proof of a genuine buyer.

Apple Pay already supports crypto purchases within Stripe's onramp, but Apple itself has not announced any stablecoin product. However, it posted a Head of Financial Product Strategy role that lists stablecoin knowledge as a preferred skill, fueling speculation about future plans.
