Sui Aims for All-Digital Payments Within Four Years
The co-founder of Mysten Labs, Evan Cheng, predicts that Sui will carry all digital payments within four years. This sweeping claim is based on recent data showing that Sui has moved over $65 billion in gasless stablecoin transfers since June 10. The network's Hashi testnet, which allows bitcoin to collateralize loans without wrapping it into a synthetic token, has also been gaining traction.
Sui's infrastructure team, led by Cheng as CEO, aims to replace traditional payment systems with a more efficient and private alternative. According to Abiodun, another co-founder of Mysten Labs, the entire internet is about to get free payments with privacy at scale, thanks to Sui's confidential-transaction features.
While some may view this prediction as overly ambitious, Cheng's team has been making steady progress in building out the Sui network. The next year will be a crucial test of whether Sui can live up to its promise and become the rail for every payment on the internet.
