Sui has joined forces with OpenAssets to develop the Open Tokenized Asset Standard (OTAS), an open-source framework designed to standardize interfaces for tokenized assets across various blockchains. This collaboration aims to create a common rulebook for tokenized assets, covering essential areas such as identity, compliance, asset metadata, and settlement.

According to Adeniyi Abiodun, Co-Founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, OTAS offers a 'shared language' for key financial operations without forcing anyone into rigid dependence on specific blockchain technology. Sui's existing tools, including tokenized asset modules and the Permissioned Asset Standard (PAS), will be integrated with OTAS to facilitate programmable compliance and fractional ownership.

The collaboration between Sui and OpenAssets is part of the Sui Foundation's new membership in the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LFDT), which was announced on September 24, 2026. This partnership builds on Sui and Mysten Labs' early sponsorship role in the effort to develop OTAS.
