Sui Leads Crypto Market with 26% Surge Amid AI Economy Hopes
Sui has emerged as the strongest asset among the top 30 cryptocurrencies on Sunday, with a price gain of around 26% in 24 hours and 40% over the week. This outperforms the wider market, where Bitcoin rose by 6% and Ethereum by 5.9%. The surge is attributed to several factors.
One reason for Sui's success is its potential as a bet on the AI economy. Macro investor Raoul Pal has publicly expressed his high conviction in Sui, citing its programmable transaction blocks feature, which bundles multiple steps into a single operation, making it ideal for machine speed applications. This feature, combined with Pal's endorsement, has likely contributed to the influx of new capital.
Another driver behind Sui's price rise is the launch of Hashi, a protocol that enables Bitcoin to be used as programmable collateral on Sui without leaving the Bitcoin blockchain. This innovation targets the issue of idle capital in the crypto market and could attract liquidity without requiring users to first move their assets.
The rotation of capital into layer 1 chains is also contributing to Sui's success, with other large networks like Render, Arbitrum, and Bittensor experiencing similar gains. This trend follows a familiar pattern, where Bitcoin leads the way, followed by larger alternatives, and then smaller application tokens.
