Sui Price Surges 11% Amid Short Squeeze, Altcoin Rotation, and Positive Narrative
The price of Sui surged by approximately 11% over the last 24 hours, driven by a combination of factors including a short squeeze, altcoin rotation, and positive narratives around its DeFi and payment features.
The immediate catalyst for the rally was a concentrated short squeeze as SUI broke above recent resistance. According to market data, around $210k of derivatives positions were liquidated, with about $200k being shorts and only $10k longs on Binance, Bybit, and OKX.
This is consistent with a textbook sign of shorts being forced to buy back as price rises, rather than spot buyers alone driving the move. The 24-hour price series shows relatively modest trading around $1.00-$1.04 before a steeper leg higher toward $1.12-$1.14.
Several traders on X highlight that SUI recently reclaimed major technical levels, including crossing the 200-day EMA for the first time in about a year and defending a retest near $0.94 with an immediate 8% bounce.
The reinforcing narrative around Sui's DeFi, RWA, and payments roadmap has also contributed to its price increase. The integration of tokenized real-world assets issued by Bitwise as collateral on Bluefin Lend is seen as strengthening Sui's DeFi story.
