Sui Rallies as Mysten Labs Targets Global Payments and AI Growth
Sui’s native token $SUI has surged 4.43% to $1.23, driven by Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun’s vision for the network as a global payment infrastructure. Abiodun emphasized Sui’s potential to compete with traditional systems like SWIFT, highlighting stablecoins and AI-agent transactions as key growth areas. CoinGecko data shows $SUI’s market cap near $5 billion with $878 million in 24-hour trading volume, though its daily range has remained tight between $1.17 and $1.26.
Technical analysis points to $1.27 as the next major hurdle. The weekly chart shows $SUI trading above the upper Bollinger Band near $1.19, suggesting strong momentum. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 58.71, indicating bullish but not overbought conditions. Analysts Ali Martinez and Celal Kucuker have identified $1.27 as a critical level, with a breakout potentially pushing prices toward $2 in the short term.
Stablecoins are central to Sui’s strategy, with $USDsui and other assets enabling gasless transfers. The network processed over $1 trillion in stablecoin volume since August 2025, and integrations like Daya and RedotPay extend its payment capabilities. Abiodun also sees AI agents as a future driver of blockchain transactions, citing Sui’s involvement in Google’s Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) for programmable payments.
Despite these advancements, Sui faces challenges, including a decline in DeFi total value locked (TVL) from previous highs. While TVL now stands at $550 million, Abiodun argues that stablecoin use and institutional adoption should also be considered. The network’s governance model was tested earlier with a $223 million exploit recovery, showcasing validator coordination in crisis management.
