Sui Stuck in Critical Range as Breakout or Breakdown Looms
Sui (SUI) is at a critical juncture, trading at $1.16 and stuck in a tight range between $1.13 and $1.19. This compression indicates that the token has absorbed energy from its recent recovery move and is now deciding which direction to release it.
Bitcoin's lack of conviction, currently trading around $83,600 after rising 7% over the past month, is contributing to this situation. Liquidity-seeking capital is flowing into higher-beta Layer-1 plays like SUI in search of alpha.
The on-chain fundamentals are mixed, but not a deal-breaker. Sui's DeFi TVL peaked at $2.6 billion in May before the broader ecosystem cooldown, and DEX volumes closed August at $1.2 billion - 95% below the October 2025 peak. Stablecoin reserves dipped to $482 million before breaking their downtrend last month with a $62 million inflow.
The technical structure is bullish over any timeframe longer than a week, with the moving average stack unambiguously pointing up. However, the near-term oscillator picture indicates that buyers hesitated at immediate resistance and the rally is now on probation.
