SUI's Break Above $1.00 Leaves Sustainability in Question
SUI has broken through the $1.00 handle, surging 5.39% in a day that's left many questioning its sustainability. The price closed above the Bollinger Band upper boundary at $0.98, and with every moving average in the rearview mirror, there's almost no technical support between the current price and a mean-reversion move.
The RSI is screaming overbought at 72.67, while open interest has cratered 8.42% into the rally, a textbook short-squeeze fingerprint. Shorts got blown out, but when the squeeze exhausts itself, there's no residual buying pressure left to sustain the move.
Top traders are skewed to the long side, with 72.6% net long, and the retail long/short ratio sits at 2.23, but in a post-squeeze environment with OI contracting, this is a liability. The funding rate is neutral, but the equilibrium is fragile.
For bulls, SUI needs a decisive close above $1.08 on the daily timeframe to shift the short-term structure and potentially open a run toward the $1.20, $1.25 range. Bears, however, have a higher-probability path given the current evidence, a rejection at $1.08 pulls the trap door to $0.96 almost immediately.
