Sui’s SUI Token Rises Ahead of Key Throughput Demonstration
$SUI saw a 5% increase, reaching approximately $1.23 on October 5, 2026, according to CoinGecko. This surge came as Mysten Labs, the company behind Sui, focused on stablecoins, payments, and AI-driven activity to fuel the network's growth. The rise in price coincided with anticipation for a live throughput demonstration scheduled for October 7, following a previous experiment in July that showcased 6,086,766 transactions per second (TPS).
Mysten Labs has positioned Sui as a network designed for moving value between people, institutions, and autonomous systems. Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer, highlighted money movement as a central part of Sui’s development, emphasizing payments, financial asset transfers, and autonomous transactions. Stablecoins play a crucial role in this framework by providing digital, dollar-denominated value that can move efficiently through blockchain infrastructure.
Stablecoins and AI are seen as potential growth engines for Sui. Stablecoins support financial activity and instant settlement, while AI agents could generate high-frequency, machine-driven transactions. The July experiment demonstrated Sui’s capacity to handle 6.08 million TPS, a result achieved through programmable tunnels and offchain payment channels. However, the practical adoption of this capacity remains an open question.
The upcoming demonstration on October 7 will provide another opportunity for Sui to showcase its performance. While $SUI’s recent price increase may be linked to renewed attention on Sui’s technology, the broader test will be whether stablecoins and AI agents can drive sustained economic demand. The market capitalization of $SUI stood at roughly $5.06 billion with a 24-hour trading volume of approximately $619.9 million on October 5.
